Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using WindowSill.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Application or accessing the Website (collectively, the "Service"), You agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If You do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to both the free version of the Application and any paid features, subscriptions, or licenses (collectively, "WindowSill+" and "WindowSill Pro").

2. Interpretation and Definitions

2.1 Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

2.2 Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:

  • You means the individual accessing or using the Application, Website, or Service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Application, Website, or Service, as applicable.
  • Developer (referred to as either "the Developer", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to WindowSill's owner and development team.
  • Application or App refers to the WindowSill software application for Windows devices.
  • Website refers to WindowSill's website, accessible from https://getwindowsill.app
  • Service refers to the Application, Website, Dashboard, and API collectively.
  • Terms or Terms and Conditions refers to these Terms and Conditions as updated from time to time.
  • Country refers to: Washington, USA.
  • Device means any device that can access the Service such as a computer, cellphone, or digital tablet.
  • Extensions means third-party software components that enhance or extend the functionality of the Application.
  • WindowSill+ refers to premium features, subscriptions, or licenses available for the Application for individual consumers.
  • WindowSill Pro refers to premium features, subscriptions, or licenses available for the Application for enterprise organizations.
  • Microsoft Store refers to Microsoft's digital distribution platform for Windows applications.
  • AI Service Providers means third-party artificial intelligence service providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Google (Gemini), xAI, OpenRouter, or other AI companies whose services are integrated with the Application.
  • Stripe refers to Stripe, Inc., a third-party payment processor used by the Website and Service to handle subscription billing for enterprise organizations.
  • Dashboard refers to the web-based interface accessible through the Website where users can manage their accounts, organizations, billing, and settings.
  • Remote Settings refers to configuration settings managed through the Dashboard that are synchronized to the WindowSill desktop Application for enterprise deployments.
  • Device Token refers to an authentication token created by organization administrators that enables silent sign-in for the WindowSill desktop Application in enterprise deployments.
  • Subscription refers to a recurring payment arrangement for WindowSill+ or WindowSill Pro features, either through the Microsoft Store (for individuals) or Stripe (for enterprise organizations).
  • Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
  • Usage Data refers to data stored locally on Your Device, generated by the use of the Application.

3. Description of Service

The Application is a productivity software for Windows that provides:

  • Universal command bar functionality
  • Media control across various applications
  • Clipboard history management
  • Meeting control features
  • Short-term reminder functionality
  • URL and image utilities
  • Web browser control features
  • AI-powered text assistance (through AI Service Providers)
  • Extension support for additional functionality

4. License Grant

4.1 Free Version

Subject to Your compliance with these Terms, the Developer grants You a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install, and use the free version of the Application on Your Windows Devices for personal and commercial use.

4.2 WindowSill+ Features

Access to premium features requires a valid WindowSill+ subscription or lifetime license purchased through the Microsoft Store. Premium features may include advanced AI capabilities, additional customization options, and enhanced functionality.

4.2 WindowSill Pro Features

Access to premium features requires a valid WindowSill Pro subscription or lifetime license purchased through the Stripe. Premium features may include advanced AI capabilities, additional customization options, and enhanced functionality.

5. Billing and Subscriptions

5.1 Individual Subscriptions (B2C) - Microsoft Store

For individual users, the Application is distributed through the Microsoft Store. All purchases, subscriptions, billing, and refunds for individual WindowSill+ subscriptions and lifetime licenses are handled exclusively by Microsoft according to their terms and policies.

By purchasing WindowSill+ through the Microsoft Store, You also agree to Microsoft's Services Agreement and Store Terms of Sale.

5.2 Enterprise Subscriptions (B2B) - Stripe

For enterprise organizations, WindowSill Pro subscriptions are billed through Stripe via the Dashboard. Enterprise subscriptions are seat-based, meaning You pay per member in Your organization.

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled. The number of seats is automatically adjusted based on the number of members in Your organization.

By subscribing through Stripe, You agree to Stripe's Consumer Terms.

5.3 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee (Enterprise Only)

For enterprise subscriptions purchased through Stripe, the Developer offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on Your initial subscription purchase. If You are not satisfied with the Service, You may request a full refund within 30 days of Your first payment.

To request a refund, contact the Developer at support@getwindowsill.app within the 30-day period. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 5-10 business days.

5.4 Payment Failure and Grace Period

If a payment fails for an enterprise subscription, the Developer provides a 7-day grace period during which You can update Your payment method and the Service will continue to function normally.

If payment is not resolved within the grace period:

  • Your organization's subscription will be suspended
  • Organization members will lose access to WindowSill Pro features
  • Your organization data and settings will be preserved

To reactivate Your subscription after suspension, update Your payment method through the Dashboard or contact support@getwindowsill.app.

6. Third-Party AI Services

The Application integrates with various AI Service Providers. When using AI features:

  • You are subject to the terms and privacy policies of the respective AI Service Providers
  • The Developer is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of AI Service Providers
  • AI Service Providers may have their own usage limits, costs, and restrictions
  • You are responsible for any API keys or accounts You create with AI Service Providers

Currently supported AI Service Providers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Google (Gemini), xAI, OpenRouter, and local AI models. Additional providers may be added over time.

7. Extensions

7.1 Extension Use

The Application supports third-party Extensions that may be developed by independent developers and are not owned or controlled by the Developer. Extensions are designed to enhance the functionality of the Application and may perform various functions on Your Device.

7.2 No Responsibility for Third-Party Extensions

The Developer takes no responsibility for any harm, loss, damage, or security issues that may occur to Your Device, data, or privacy as a result of using any Extension. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Data leaks, theft, or unauthorized access to Your information
  • Hardware damage or system instability
  • Software conflicts or compatibility issues
  • Performance degradation or crashes
  • Security breaches or malware infections
  • Any violation of third-party terms of service or privacy policies

7.3 User Responsibility for Extensions

It is Your sole responsibility to ensure the safe use of Extensions. You should:

  • Only install Extensions from sources You trust and verify
  • Review Extension permissions and functionality before installation
  • Ensure Your Device has adequate security measures in place
  • Regularly update Your security software and operating system
  • Monitor Extension behavior and remove any suspicious Extensions immediately
  • Understand that Extensions may collect, process, or transmit Your data

7.4 Extension Disclaimers

Extensions are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. The Developer does not endorse, validate, or guarantee the security, functionality, or reliability of any Extension. Each Extension developer is solely responsible for their Extension's operation, support, and compliance with applicable laws.

7.5 Extension Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the Developer be liable for any damages arising from Your use of Extensions, including but not limited to data loss, security breaches, system damage, or any consequences resulting from Extension functionality or malfunction.

8. Organizations

8.1 Creating and Managing Organizations

You may create an organization through the Dashboard to manage WindowSill Pro access for multiple users. Organizations are associated with an email domain (e.g., @company.com) and require domain verification.

8.2 Administrator Responsibilities

Organization administrators are responsible for:

  • Managing organization membership and roles
  • Maintaining accurate billing information and ensuring timely payment
  • Configuring Remote Settings appropriately for their organization
  • Managing Device Tokens securely and revoking them when no longer needed
  • Ensuring organization members comply with these Terms
  • Safeguarding any AI provider API keys configured for the organization

8.3 Member Obligations

Organization members agree to:

  • Use the Service in accordance with their organization's policies
  • Comply with Remote Settings configured by their organization administrators
  • Not share their account credentials or Device Tokens with unauthorized users
  • Report any security concerns to their organization administrators

8.4 Data Handling on Departure

When a member leaves an organization, their membership data is deleted. Billing event records may be retained for approximately 30 days for operational purposes and longer where required for tax compliance.

9. Remote Settings and Device Tokens

9.1 Remote Settings

Organization administrators can configure Remote Settings through the Dashboard that synchronize to the WindowSill desktop Application for all organization members. These settings may control:

  • Screen recording protection settings
  • Anonymous usage telemetry preferences
  • Extension installation policies and allowed extensions
  • AI provider configuration and restrictions
  • Further settings and features in the future

Organization administrators are solely responsible for the Remote Settings they configure. The Developer is not liable for any issues arising from misconfigured Remote Settings.

9.2 Device Tokens

Organization administrators can create Device Tokens that enable silent sign-in for the WindowSill desktop Application in enterprise deployments. Device Tokens can be deployed via Windows Registry or installer parameters.

10. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Application in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Application
  • Not use the Application for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Not attempt to circumvent any limitations or restrictions
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of others when using AI features
  • Keep Your Windows system updated for optimal compatibility

11. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Application to:

  • Generate, distribute, or facilitate harmful, illegal, or malicious content
  • Violate any person's privacy, intellectual property, or other rights
  • Spam, harass, or engage in abusive behavior
  • Circumvent security measures or access unauthorized systems
  • Interfere with the normal operation of the Application or related services

12. Privacy and Data

The Developer's collection and use of Your information is governed by the Privacy Policy. By using the Service, You consent to such processing and You warrant that all data provided by You is accurate.

13. Updates and Modifications

The Developer may update the Application from time to time to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance. Updates are typically delivered through the Microsoft Store. Some updates may be required for continued use of the Application.

The Developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Application or the Website. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.

14. Disclaimers and Warranties

The Application is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. The Developer does not warrant that:

  • The Application will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • All features will work perfectly with every application or system configuration
  • AI Service Providers will always be available or accurate
  • Extensions will be safe, secure, or compatible with Your system
  • The Application will meet all Your specific requirements

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from Your use of the Service or any Extensions.

The Developer's total liability shall not exceed the amount You have paid for WindowSill+ or WindowSill Pro features in the 12 months preceding the claim.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the Developer harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from Your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, infringement of any rights of another, or Your use of any Extensions including any damages, security breaches, or other issues caused by Extensions.

17. Termination

These Terms remain in effect until terminated. You may terminate Your use at any time by uninstalling the Application. The Developer may terminate or suspend Your access immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that the Developer believes violates these Terms.

For individual WindowSill+ subscriptions purchased through the Microsoft Store, termination is handled through the Microsoft Store according to their policies.

For enterprise WindowSill Pro subscriptions, You may cancel through the Dashboard at any time. Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Account Deletion

To request deletion of Your account and associated data, contact the Developer at support@getwindowsill.app. Upon receiving Your request:

  • Your account and Personal Data will be deleted within 30 days
  • Any active subscriptions will be canceled
  • Billing records may be retained for legal compliance purposes
  • Anonymous usage data cannot be deleted as it cannot be linked to Your identity

18. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where the Application is developed and maintained, without regard to conflict of law principles.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck and the remaining provisions shall remain in force.
